Movie and TV show fans have never had it so good when it comes to the content options available for the consumer market: there are currently more than a dozen different streaming services delivering all kinds of movies or series straight to their TV sets, literally at the touch of a button. With that amount of new content being released every month, though, which films or TV shows are more likely to be worth each viewer’s precious time? Which movies or series are most people interested in knowing about?
That’s where JustWatch comes in. It’s a Web service designed to collect and present information on every movie or TV show featured in practically all streaming services operating around the world today, in one place. Visitors can create a free account, pick their country of residence – content is often different or even unavailable in various regions – define the streaming services they are interested in and get recommendations based on their preferences and searches. Consumers can then use the free JustWatch apps available for their Smart TV, streaming device, smartphone or tablet in order to always have new suggestions available on what’s hot and recommended on every streaming platform.
Based on user activity – as dictated by clicking on a streaming offer, adding a title to a watchlist and marking a title as “seen” – JustWatch has put together Top Ten charts for those movies and TV shows that attracted the most interest in the United States during the first six months of 2025. Here are the movies US consumers showed the most interest in this year… so far.

Based on the same information, these are the TV shows consumers in the United States have shown the most interest in over the same period of time.

Taking a look at the Top Ten movies chart it’s plain to see that the Oscars played a big part in helping certain films stand out: Anora, The Brutalist, A Real Pain and Flow all deserve praise, but their Academy Awards nominations boosted their visibility higher than anyone expected. Other entries, such as The Substance, A Minecraft Movie and Conclave, are justified in other ways: anti-conformism, brand power and current affairs respectively. Most important of all, though: there’s actual variety to be found in this film chart, which is great for the movie industry as a whole.
TV shows are a different story. While there’s a handful of surprise original hits in that Top Ten – such as Paradise, The Pitt and Adolescence – most entries are either established series or productions linked to already successful entertainment brands. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it does imply that people tend to invest more time in shows they are familiar with nowadays. Again, not a bad thing per se – more or less to be expected, in fact – but it would have been nice to see more experimental productions attract the same level of attention. You’ve still got six months to pleasantly surprise us by delivering better year-end charts than what 2024 did, 2025!
