JustWatch Streaming Charts: May 2025

Movie and TV show fans have never had it so good when it comes to the content options available for the consumer market: there are currently more than a dozen different streaming services delivering all kinds of movies or series straight to their TV sets, literally at the touch of a button. With that amount of new content being released every month, though, which films or TV shows are more likely to be worth each viewer’s precious time? Taking a look at these charts it’s plain to see that we’re officially entering the summer blockbuster season, as both The Accountant and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One attracted interest ahead of the theatrical release of their respective sequels. There are still echoes of the 97th Academy Awards taking up spots in JustWatch’s movie chart, such as The Substance or The Brutalist, but it’s recent films released on streaming – such as Black Bag, Novocaine or Mickey 17 – that get most of the attention. Conclave taking up the top position in this chart can only be attributed to the recent election for a new Pope, but hey – pure curiosity often drives enough interest on its own, right?

When it comes to TV shows it was largely business as usual: the second seasons of The Last of Us and Andor predictably led the way, followed by noteworthy productions such as Mobland and Your Friends and Neighbors. Great to see Poker Face making a successful return, too. Apple’s new show, Murderbot, did not fail to enter this chart… but it’s fair to say that Netflix’s new duo – The Four Seasons and The Eternaut – managing to do the same was rather surprising. Since many of these TV shows’ seasons are now completed, one can expect things to be look quite different in June’s chart. Should be interesting, no?
