Just as it had done way back in 2021 with the Director’s Cut Edition of Ghost of Tsushima, Sony is now offering a Complete Edition of acclaimed PS5 exclusive Ghost of Yotei on the title’s one-year anniversary. This edition is bringing together last year’s title, all the extras included in its Digital Deluxe edition, a new narrative expansion and a new single-player combat survival mode – as well as a number of quality-of-life updates and other additions. It’s now available exclusively for the PS5, exclusively on the PlayStation Store (the announcement over at the official PlayStation Blog does not mention physical disc availability at all).
The narrative expansion, titled Echoes of Sekigahara, splits its story between the present day and flashbacks to protagonist Atsu’s earlier time on the Japanese mainland. In the present-day thread, players meet Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past who has arrived in Ezo, and explore a previously unseen valley inhabited by a character called The Snake and his group, the Vipers. The flashback thread covers Atsu’s experience at the Battle of Sekigahara, described as a key moment in her life before she returned home to pursue her quest for vengeance. The expansion adds new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets and dyes.

Most Wanted is a new single-player combat survival mode that Sucker Punch describes as its own take on a roguelike gameplay experience. Players accept bounties to begin new runs; defeating enemies earns perks and unlocks additional playable characters. According to the announcement, Atsu fights with dual katana, Oyuki uses a kusarigama and Nagato wields a yari. This Complete Edition also adds new photo mode stamps, additional New Game Plus cosmetics, as well as new trophies tied to both the narrative expansion and the survival mode.
PlayStation5 owners who did not get Sony’s title last year at launch can now have this Complete Edition for the same price ($69.99). Players who did, can gain access to the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion and the new Most Wanted mode by purchasing the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99. This might be a good time to note that PC gamers are not getting either Ghost of Yotei or its Complete Edition, as Sony has officially pivoted away from releasing its high-value PS5 exclusives on Steam or the Epic Games Store.

Complete Edition aside, a day-one patch for the original game already brings some nice free bonuses to all its existing owners. Those include a new “Beauty of Yotei” mode – a kind of screensaver-style view of the game’s Ezo environments intended for passive viewing and Photo Mode captures – along with new music tracks for the game’s existing Watanabe Mode. These tracks are playable throughout the full game once that mode is enabled. This patch also adds an option to keep one armor set’s visual appearance while using another set’s stats, as well as a new high-contrast accessibility setting.
